Senior CTV Frontend Developer (all gender)

Join us in developing intuitive, high-performance, and scalable TV applications used by millions – including for the ZDF Mediathek.
Your code will run where content truly matters: on Smart TVs, HbbTV, Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and beyond.
Working closely with UX, QA, and project management, you'll help define the future of Connected TV (CTV) – tackling complex technical challenges with a clear product vision.

• Develop visually appealing frontends for CTV and Smart TV platforms (HbbTV, Android TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, Tizen, webOS)
• Implement lean-back–optimized UIs using JavaScript, React, SASS , and platform-specific SDKs
• Handle focus management , remote control UX , and performance tuning for embedded environments
• Perform testing, debugging, and continuous integration using modern tools (GitLab, CI/CD, Storybook)
• Collaborate with UX designers, DevOps engineers, QA, and broadcast experts in an agile (SCRUM) setup
• Optionally support adaptation to new platforms (e.g. Roku, Chromecast, Sky Q)
• Tackle non-trivial development challenges and build your own solutions – with the support of your team

You’re the right fit for us if you’re tech-savvy enough to take on the challenge of transforming the TV experience , and eager to dive deep into the world of personalized TV, HbbTV, set-top boxes , and media libraries.

• Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in web and/or TV frontend development
• Deep understanding of JavaScript, hands-on experience with React, CSS Modules, and SASS
• Solid knowledge of Smart TV–specific development (HbbTV, Tizen, webOS, Ginga)
• Experience with performance optimization, remote navigation, and focus management
• Confident working with Git, GitLab, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of TypeScript, Flutter, or React Native
• Experience with streaming technologies (HLS, DASH, DRM, EPG)
• Interest in accessibility (A11Y) for TV interfaces
• Familiarity with platform certification processes (Samsung, LG, Google, Amazon)
